Sustainable development

In our effort to remake the towns image as a business friendly town we need to also encourage a green agenda where possible. Small steps over time will help us to leave less of a carbon footprint for future generations of Lake Park residents. I will push a green agenda to help us gain regional and national recognition and to drive a sustainable growth program.

Project "Green".

  • Push to provide tax incentives for business that are Eco friendly “go green”.
  • Use of Green chemicals/pesticides for our community.
  • Increase the use of recycled paper products in the town.
  • Elimination of oil-based paints in town projects.

Project conservation:

  • Explore the use of solar power for government buildings.
  • Water reduction – increase water retention areas where possible, encourage the use of water reduction plumbing fixtures in new construction.
  • Transform town buildings to water free urinals, sensory faucets in public bathrooms.
  • Conversion to CFL (compact fluorescent lighting) in town buildings room light sensors in offices - reducing energy consumption and the amount of greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Purchase Hybrid vehicle for the towns vehicles when possible to help reduce emissions on the road.
  • Reduction in non-recyclables - Increase public awareness by advocating existing programs.
